The meeting centered on the Flood Resilience Plan Step 2, focusing on Strategy Development Discussion (CFRTF Workshop #1). Key discussions involved refining the terminology for flood resilience strategies, such as debating the use of "mitigate" versus "adapt," and aligning strategy types with disaster management phases using a matrix framework. Task Force members provided feedback on the strategy framework, emphasizing the need for coordination with other large-scale flood resilience efforts like the S.A.F.E.R. project, and the importance of education, including alerting prospective buyers about flood-prone areas. The meeting also covered the upcoming transmittal to the Commissioners Court, which will include a public engagement report-out. Seven key priorities for the 8-month work plan were presented, including ensuring equitable inclusion, promoting nature-based solutions, improving transparency, and enhancing communication and regulatory coordination across jurisdictions.
