New Philadelphia Finance Committee Finance Committee Meeting
The committee examined the potential transition to the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) for municipal tax collection. Discussions centered on comparing current revenue collection efficiency with RITA's metrics, the impact on local businesses and taxpayers, and the feasibility of upgrading existing 32-year-old financial software versus changing service providers. Members reviewed feedback from local accountants regarding the potential switch and analyzed the status of ongoing delinquent tax cases and prosecutions. The committee concluded that no immediate action would be taken without further input from the mayor.
