Malta City Council Special Meeting
The council met with representatives from Great West Engineering to review bids for a water tank project. Discussion focused on the bid results for both steel and concrete tank options, noting that both were significantly over budget due to soil foundation requirements. The potential for securing additional funding through the State Revolving Fund (SRF), including 50% loan forgiveness and extended loan terms, was discussed as a strategy to address the budget shortfall. The council also deliberated on the maintenance needs and projected lifespans of the different tank types, as well as the risks associated with rebidding the project. It was determined that the council would wait for further information regarding the SRF loan before proceeding with a final decision.
