The scheduled board meeting was canceled due to a lack of items on the agenda.
The Council discussed the hiring of a part-time police officer, the approval of an agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers for a new service building, and the procurement of equipment for council chamber upgrades. Legislative action included the authorization of storm water easements, a memorandum of understanding with Republic Services for waste collection, zoning changes, engineering services for the Parkhurst reconstruction project, and amendments to water, storm water, and sewer rates. The Council also passed appropriations increases and a resolution to place a fire levy renewal on the ballot. Further discussions addressed concerns regarding noise at the water treatment plant, CDBG program participation, and the application of the three-reading rule versus emergency clauses.
The committee reviewed the Fiscal Officer's Year-To-Date fund, revenue, and expense reports through April and May 2026. Key discussions focused on fuel cost fluctuations and delivery practices, with requests for future comparison reports. The Mayor's report highlighted positive budget standing, specifically noting fund balances in the Parks and Economic Development funds, and emphasized the need for strategies to improve village marketing and development.
